#kindnesswarriors

Despite the wicked blizzard happening outside, we had a small but might group show up at the Village Shul on Jan 15th with tons of generous donations of socks, winter hats and gloves, lip balm and food for the homeless in the GTA. We all schmoozed, packed, learned more about Out of the Cold from our friend Debra Merowitz who came to pack with us. In the end we made over 150 JFI Car Care Packs (see our resource section to make your own!) which everyone took to keep in their cars and backpacks to give out to people. We also managed to fill up 6 bins of clothing and socks that Debra brought to the Out of the Cold programs to be given to their clients. So much good done in such a short time! Thanks to Orit Freedman who did an amazing sock drive at her hospital in Oshawa, to Marie Mar for sending such a great order of donations straight to the shul from Walmart, to Michael Yuffa for coming back to get more Car Care Packs as he gave them all out that very night to people on the streets, he messaged me saying "I've never seen smiles like that, can I come and get some more?". Thanks to Marla Buck for that amazing big sock donation from a friend of hers, and to Matti and Shlomo Blackman who came to help set up and clean up afterwards!
